Our book club talked about The Dragonriders of Pern
last Saturday and the reaction was very mixed. Some did not like it at all and stopped
reading very early on in the recording, and then some loved it. Go figure.
It
was a 38 hour trilogy, and nobody claimed to have finished it.
Most of us agreed that men would enjoy it, and one of our
goals is to dig into books that men would enjoy, but we’re done with Anne McCaffrey.
Our next book is We have always lived in the castle, Shirley Jackson’s last novel. It’s a relatively short six hour suspense novel read by Anne Wessels. BARD says this is “A frightening story narrated by a childlike girl of eighteen who lives with her senile uncle and older sister Constance, who was acquitted of the poisoning of the rest of the family. The younger sister convinces Constance to escape from the cruel curiosity of the townspeople by locking themselves in their house.”
